Instructions for upcoming December 5, 2009 Lohr Woodworking School course registration

This information on this page is provided for those intending to participate in the upcoming Lohr Woodworking School course registration on Saturday December 5, 2009 at 10:00am EST.  We handle our semi-annual registrations in a way similar to college level courses, as in general we have more people seeking to enroll than we have available bench positions to offer. Our process is intended to give all an equal opportunity to enroll successfully on the course of their choice.

How you will register on December 5, 2009 at 10:00am Eastern Time.

To register, simply go online several minutes before 10:00am Eastern Time on Saturday December 5, 2009.  All you will be required to do is to read off the course code numbers that will be posted on this website at that time and email a Reservation for Enrollment  Request to JDLohrWood@aol.com with the course code number for the particular course that suits your 2010 schedule. No money changes hands on line. We accept enrollments on a first-come, first-served basis and in the exact order of our receipt of all email reservations. Reservations are carefully sorted according to this order of receipt and all successful entries are confirmed by email within 48 hours of registration. Once confirmed, each successfully enrolled student has 30 days to make a minimum 50% deposit of their course fee.  Should anyone need to cancel their enrollment at a later date, deposits are refunded in full less a $50 administrative processing fee, provided the canceling student notifies us at least 40 days in advance of the actual run date of their chosen course. All deposits become forfeit in their entirety within the 40 day cut-off period if canceling at such a close proximity to the run date of your course.

The steps below illustrate in detail what you will need to do:

1.  At approximately 10:00am EST 12/05/2009, open the course schedule page at: http://jdlohrwood.com/serv04.htm    As close as is possible to 10:00am, you will find the update banner at the top of this page change from Updated October 9, 2009 to a new banner that will read Updated December 5, 2009.  This will not magically do this before your eyes unless you  Right Click with your mouse on any blank area of that page and then Left Click - on "Refresh"   What you are looking for with this action  is the date to change as pictured in illustration A.1 below.

If, after ‘refreshing’ the page above, the update banner does not change to UPDATED December 5, 2009, this page has not yet completed its upload from my host server (note: the 10:00am timetable for this is approximate). Such web page uploads are like sending an attached file with an email; sometimes they go through fast, other times it takes a few minutes. The key here is to understand that the playing field is entirely level for all who wish to register, so if you cannot yet see the new course codes, then nor can anyone else, provided you refreshed the page regularly.

2.  As soon as you see the all important update banner change to UPDATED December 5, 2009  you can now scroll down the http://jdlohrwood.com/serv04.htm page and the current January through June 2010 schedule will be replaced with the new August through November 2010 schedule.  All you need do to successfully register is read off the new course code number on the new updated page that corresponds to the Practical Woodworking Course date that works for you, and email the specific Course Code Number along with your full Name / Address / Telephone / & Email  to JDLohrWood@aol.com .  This is all that is required, however as courses will be assigned on a first come - first serve basis, it is critical that you send your registration email as quickly as possible following the 10:00am upload of the new 2010 schedule. Additionally, if you are able, it is in your best interest to list a 1st Choice, 2nd Choice, & 3rd Choice to increase your chance of success in case someone's registration email beats you to the cut after the 10:00am upload.

3.  If you follow the instructions exactly as described above, your registration is complete. Once you click send’, your email will be tallied with all the other reservations that we receive with the new course codes. You will be notified by email on or before Monday December 7, 2009 with your 2010 bench assignment along with a printable mail-in registration form and tuition deposit instructions. All individuals whose reservations arrived too late to secure a place will be placed on the waiting list in order of receipt. Should you not make the first cut, do not despair as it is not unusual for us to have 2 or 3 students who successfully reserved a bench position subsequently default on mailing in their reservation and tuition deposit within the 30 day deposit deadline. Sorry, we do not accept credit cards. Only personal checks or money orders are accepted.
