The core of this mission is Abu's training here at my shop in Schwenksville PA in the summer of 2008.  The mission is to expertly train Abu on how best to develop a woodworking and small manufacturing program at the Baobab School of Trades in Cape Coast, Ghana.   To do this, I have to get Abu here to my workshop and school in Pennsylvania, train him, and then get him back to Ghana later in the summer.   Although I have personally committed to funding 9 weeks of Abu's living expenses while in America in addition to free scholarship to my school, all this is worthless if I can't get him here.  I am giving all I can but cannot fund his travel on top of it all the rest.  Given that the annual income of an average Ghanaian is about $500, traveling to America for Abu to study modern  methods of woodworking initially seemed about as possible as taking a rocket ship to the moon.  With a round trip ticket to the United State coupled with connecting transportation costing about $2,400, (the equivalent of 5 years of a many typical Ghanaian's income) the likely hood of success seemed remote.   But that doesn't mean impossible !  All we need is enough folks to donate $25 and we can do this!  If you can afford to give more it would be enormously appreciated.  If we are lucky enough to raise more than $2,400, all the funds in excess will be donated to the Baobab School for Trades in Ghana for the purchase of woodworking tools and machines.

Please make a check payable to   Jeffry Lohr  w/memo - "Baobab School Fund" and mail it today.

NOTE:  This effort rides on several key ingredients that we will need for success.  Abu's Visa Application is currently in the works, we also need to raise at least $2,500 for his travel expenses.  All donations for this outreach to Cape Coast, Ghana project will be carefully recorded.   If for what ever reason our mission falls short, all donated funds will be refunded to each and every giver.  My word is my bond on this promise so please donate with a generous and open heart.   Sincerely, Jeffry Lohr

Although I have our minimum target goal set at $2,500 for this fund raiser which will get Abu here for his woodworking schooling and training the goal is in fact to raise at least $10,000 for the purchase and shipping of tools to the Baobab School for Abu to facilitate the development of their Woodworking Program in Ghana .  All funds we raise in excess of this initial $2,500 needed  will be used to purchase woodworking tools and machinery for shipment to the Baobab School for Trades in early 2009.
