Free Form Live Edge Wood Furniture using natural edge slabs and organic sculptural forms salvaged from trees is something I have prepared to do for a lifetime.  Utilizing natural forms in furniture making can be breathtakingly beautiful, exquisite and handsomely functional when executed by a knowledgeable, artistic, and experienced designer craftsman.   However, if you've done any image searches, you've no doubt seen a few Live Edge Style creations that appear more fitting for the Flintstone's house than something truly elegant, stunningly beautiful, and worthy enough of placement in your home.   This phenomenon is due to the fact that truly excellent live edge furniture design is never just an accident.  Good free form furniture design incorporates all the key elements fine art.  Proportion, line, color, scale, heaviness were appropriate and lightness were it is not, added with a deep understanding of the nature of the material is what makes all the difference in live edge sculptural work. A finely executed live edge furniture needs to command attention without overwhelmingly dominating its environment.  It needs to be in harmony with the space it occupies and function as well as it looks.

I feel as though my journey as a woodworker has lead me and our studio to this destiny of creating more and more of this live edge sculptural form work. If you are an adventurous spirit and are drawn to this style of work, please come to the studio and lets discuss the possibilities.
