Most Frequently Asked Questions
about Registration and Enrollment in the
Lohr School of Woodworking.
What do I do if I cannot refresh the
Course Schedule page and see the new listings?
It
is not unusual for some people to have slower Internet Browsers than others and
for any reason ranging from a failed server upload to a sticking web page, the
registering student cannot view the new web site course schedule page on the web
site. To ensure everyone an equal chance, be advised that I will
send the same registration course numbers out via a mass email to each one on my
contact list following the 9:59am upload of the new course schedule page to my
web site. If you have any difficulty at all viewing the Course Schedule
page,,, please remember to immediately check your email for this same exact
course code numbers that you will need to register. You can use either
source to retrieve the new course code numbers. I know some of you have
anti SPAM programs either on your computer and/or on your email ISP. There
is not much I can do about anti SPAM filters. My strong suggestion is to learn
how to disarm your SPAM filter for July 11th. You can always re-arm it
later, but some people will find you will be able to read my email with the
needed course registration numbers listed well before you may be able to view
the same info on the following page of website: www.jdlohrwood.com/serv04.htm
Lodging
and Accommodations
Lodging
during the 6 run days of any offered class are to be arranged separately by the
attending student. A full local listing of establishments ranging from
campgrounds to reduced rate hotels and/or upscale accommodations can be found

To
Insure a Better Chance of Success: Have your Engine Already Running on December
5th.
Take
the time to have a partially completed email addressed to JDLohrWood@aol.com
prepared ahead of time all ready to go prior to the 10:00 am registration and
you will easily edge out the competition who did not take the time to do this.
Every second of time counts here.
Refer to SAMPLE RESERVATION
EMAIL under Item # 2 on the in Depth Registration Instructions page for the
email format information we request that you use Having your email
already prepped with your name, address, phone and email already typed in with
your 1st choice, 2nd choice, and 3rd choice lines already typed and prepped will
allow you to just copy and paste the Course Code number in a matter of seconds
so you will be able to do this minutes faster than anyone that did not take the
time to do this simple task. You are strongly advised to have this email
ready to go at about 9:58AM EST on registration day. Again, see the sample under
item # 2 at: In Depth Registration Instructions
Tuition
Payment Schedule.
Once confirmed that you were successful in making a
reservation for a course, (this will be confirmed in a reply email by Tuesday
December 8), all will have 30 days, or until January 8, 2010 to make a 50%
deposit on your tuition. The balance on tuition is due 60 days before the run
date of the specific course in which you are enrolled. If you should need
to cancel at any time after enrolling, your tuition is refunded in full
less a $50 administration fee provided you cancel enrollment at least 40 days in
advance of the run date of your course.
How to Register with a friend
and insure you are in the same course.
If anyone is attempting to register with a friend for the same course you
are advised to have both person's name and information on the same email
reservation or it is very likely that you will be split and end up in two
separate classes. It is OK if both of you send in the same information from your
own computers in two separate emails (actually if you both try to register on registration
day with the same info from your two separate computers, you will increase your
odds significantly but just make sure you have the same 1st & 2nd & 3rd
choices listed on your reservation) I will not double book you if two with
the same names come up. If there is only one slot left and you are trying
to gain two slots, I will award the last remaining slot to the sender of the
first email I receive in this situation.
Gifting
an Enrollment in any Lohr Woodworking Course.
Anyone
intending this as a gift are reminded to only give me your personal email and
not the recipient's on the reservation sample above especially if the gift is
intended as a surprise. An embossed presentation quality gift certificate
can be requested if needed
Proxy registrations: What to do if you
are not able to be online at 10:00am EST Dec. 5, 2009.
If
you cannot be on line on Saturday, December 5, 2009 at 10:00 am Eastern Standard
Time, you are advised to have a family member or friend register for you. They
can register from their own email for you, they do not have to be on your
computer. All that is needed is your name, your email address, and the course
number that you wish to register in. Just have your friend put the title
"PROXY REGISTRATION" at the top of their email so I don't goof on the
email address and I'll be sure to send the results to both of you. If
you are planning to have a friend register for you, it would be a good idea
for you to forward that person's email address to me in advance so I can add
them to my email list so they also get the back-up email described at the
top of this page the same as all other participants.
If you have any questions about this do not be afraid to ask. I honor Proxy
Registrations exactly the same as I do all others.
Proxy folks, please note: Obviously not all students attempting to register
may make it into one of our classes despite sincere efforts to secure it.
Choose your helper carefully but please don't be too upset with them if you end
up being edged out by others on registration day. Although at least 80%+
of all applicants usually do make it in, this event is somewhat of a lottery so
don't get upset with your friend if you should be edged out. You will be put on
the waiting list and also be able to try again for courses running January -
June 2011.
Realistic assessment of your enrollment day
competition
Although it is always unpredictable, it has been our experience over the
past 9 years of offering this very unique full immersion machine based course
that on average approximately 45 students generally attempt to register on
each semiannual registration day. It in not perfectly predictable but
suffice it to say that there are generally more people attempting to register
than we have room for. Who knows, what this December registration will bring
as it may or may not be lighter than usual due to the down turn in the economy.
Regardless to insure placement it is always best to offer a minimum of 2 class
run date selections to successfully enroll in a class. We go out of our
way to first honor all first choice incoming reservations and time posts over
all others.
Good luck to all who participate in the December 5th 2009
Registration. We promise due diligence and fairness to everyone attempting
to enroll, The process is not as hard as it seems.
Sincerely,
Jeffry Lohr
